Atletico Madrid have confirmed an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Diego Costa

Atletico Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Diego Costa over the course of the summer transfer window.

According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish Media (Football Espana), Atletico Madrid have confirmed an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of striker Diego Costa.

The Spain international has joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid for a fee in the region of 38 million euros in July 2014.

Diego Costa made 120 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea, scoring 58 goals and supplying 24 assists in return.

The Spain international has been in fantastic form for Chelsea last season.

As a member of Spain national football team, Diego Costa has won 16 caps and has scored 6 goals.

Whilst the transfer window is currently closed, the 28-year-old would be allowed to train with his new teammates and could begin playing for Atletico Madrid in January 2018. Diego Costa is traveling to Madrid to undergo a medical examination and finalize his contract with Atletico Madrid.
