Newcastle are keen on Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun, according to the football transfer rumours in British Media.

The Turkey international has joined Besiktas from Gaziantepspor on a free transfer in July 2014. The 26-year-old has a valid contract with Besiktas until June 2019.

Since his arrival from Gaziantepspor, Cenk Tosun has scored 55 goals and provided 12 assists in 128 games for Besiktas, including five goals and provided two assists in 10 games in all competitions this season.

The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Turkey.

As a member of Turkey national football team, Cenk Tosun has won 23 caps and has scored 8 goals.

Cenk Tosun will be high in demand this winter, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Besiktas this term.

The report claims that Newcastle manager has extensively scouted Cenk Tosun and is considering a move for the striker.

According to the report in British Media, The Magpies have been tracking Tosun for 12 months but are not the only Premier League club to have kept tabs on the forward, after Crystal Palace failed in a move to sign the 26-year-old. Newcastle will face tough opposition if they are to sign Cenk Tosun in January, as the Turkish side have revealed that they have fielded enquiries from 10 clubs for the striker.

It will be interesting to see whether Newcastle make their move during the January transfer window.
