It’s no secret that Inter Milan are interested in Lazio’s centre-back Stefan de Vrij. But who isn’t?
The Netherlands international joined Lazio from Feyenoord for a fee in the region of 7 million euros in July 2014. His contract expires in the summer of 2018.
Stefan de Vrij has played 89 times for Lazio since signing from Feyenoord, scoring six goals and creating four assists in that time.
The 25-year-old is considered to be the best centre-back in Netherlands. The Netherlands international has been in impressive form for Lazio this season.
De Vrij has also scored three goals in 33 games for his country.
Given that his contract is expiring soon and he has not yet signed an extension, the rumors have only heated up in recent weeks.
The Inter Milan manager is in the market for a new centre-back when the transfer window reopens. He has kept an eye on Stefan de Vrij for the last 12 months and he is impressed with the centre-back’s performances.
Luciano Spalletti is a long term admirer of De Vrij and believes he can get the most out of the Netherlands international.

According to the report, De Vrij is out of contract in the summer and while it’s thought he doesn’t want to walk away from the Biancocelesti for free, there has still been no progress on a renewal. The issue appears to be that the centre-back wants a relatively low release clause, while Lazio are trying to set it higher. Now Inter Milan are showing an interest in signing the former Feyenoord man on a free transfer. They would face competition from Manchester United, Manchester City and Everton, while Lazio expect an answer on a new contract by Christmas.
Will Stefan de Vrij be a Inter Milan player soon? Only time will tell. Thanks to his great displays, he’ll be at a much bigger club than Lazio in the near future.
