There has been numerous centre-backs linked with AC Milan in past few months.
AC Milan will look to sign Lazio centre-back Martin Caceres, according to the football transfer rumours in Italian media.
The Uruguay international joined Lazio from Hellas Verona for a fee in the region of 600,000 euros in January 2018. His contract expires in the summer of 2019.
Martin Caceres made 16 appearances across all competitions for Lazio, scoring one goal and supplying one assist in return.
His record for Uruguay is impressive. Caceres has scored 4 goals in 85 matches for Uruguay at senior level.
Caceres is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Lazio this winter and the list of suitors in the Uruguay international continues to grow.
Adding a centre-back remains AC Milan’s top priority this winter and Gennaro Gattuso will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.
Gattuso is a long term admirer of Caceres and believes he can get the most out of the Uruguay international.
Martin Caceres is a traditional defender. He is solid while defending and holds his position perfectly.
According to Football Italia (via Corriere dello Sport), “Milan’s search for a reinforcement in defence could lead them towards versatile Lazio and Uruguay figure Martin Caceres. The Rossoneri are in the midst of an injury crisis, as Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio, Mattia Caldara, Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura are all dealing with serious problems. Resources are limited, so they are seeking players with experience who can arrive for relatively little money. According to the Corriere dello Sport, the latest candidate is Lazio benchwarmer Caceres. ”
