Inter Milan keen to land Manchester City centre-back

Manchester City centre-back Eliaquim Mangala has emerged as a surprise target for Inter Milan in the winter transfer window, according to the football transfer rumours in Italian media.

The France international was signed by Manchester City in August 2014 from Porto for a fee of 30.5 million euros. The 27-year-old has a contract until 2019 with the club.

Mangala made 79 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City, supplying three assists in return.

Eliaquim Mangala has represented France at Under-21 level, winning 21 caps and scoring two goals, before making his senior international debut in June 2013. As a member of France national football team, Mangala won 8 caps.

Given that his contract is expiring in 7 months and he has not yet signed an extension, the rumors have only heated up in recent weeks.

Mangala is out of the picture at Manchester City, which has opened the door for a potential exit.

Luciano Spalletti is looking to shore up his defensive options and Manchester City’s Eliaquim Mangala happens to be a target. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.

Eliaquim Mangala is a traditional defender. He is solid while defending and holds his position perfectly.

According to Football Italia, “Inter have reportedly revived their interest in Eliaquim Mangala, almost two years since they were last linked with the Manchester City defender. According to reports in Italy, Inter will pursue a low-cost deal for Mangala in January, given his City contract expires at the end of the season. The Nerazzurri were first thought to be in for the Frenchman before he left Porto for Pep Guardiola’s side four years ago. They were then tipped to snap up the 27-year-old in the summer of 2017, but he ultimately spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton. Mangala has failed to make a single appearance for City this term, with a knee injury ruling out the stopper.”
