Everton poised to land Atletico Madrid fullback Santiago Arias

Everton are reportedly keeping a close eye on many fullbacks across the Europe.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Everton are poised to land Atletico Madrid fullback Santiago Arias.

The 28-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The Colombia international joined Atletico Madrid from PSV for a fee in the region of 11 million euros in July 2018. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.

Arias has played 44 times for Atletico since signing from PSV, scoring one goal and creating three assists in that time.

The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best fullbacks in Colombia.

As a member of Colombia national football team, Arias won 53 caps.

Carlo Ancelotti is looking to shore up his defensive options and Atletico Madrid’s Arias happens to be a target. Ancelotti is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

According to the report, “Everton are eyeing Atletico Madrid fullback Santiago Arias. Mundo Deportivo says Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to recruit the 28-year-old this summer. Arias, who has a contract until 2023, is already known to Everton’s sports director Marcel Brands from their time together at PSV Eindhoven. The Colombia defender has managed just 11 appearances this season with Kieran Trippier and Sime Vrsaljko ahead of him in Atletico coach Diego Simeone’s plans.”
