Barcelona monitoring Leandro Trossard

There has been numerous wingers linked with Barcelona in past few months.

According to multiple reports emanating from Spain, Barcelona are monitoring Brighton and Hove Albion winger Leandro Trossard.

The 28-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The Belgium international was signed by Brighton and Hove Albion in July 2019 from Genk for a fee of 15.56 million euros. He has a valid contract until June 2023 (Brighton have option for one more year).

The winger has found the back of the net on seven occasions and picked up three assists in 17 matches for Brighton this season across various competitions.

He is considered to be one of the best wingers in Belgium. Trossard has also left his mark at the international stage after netting five goals in 24 senior appearances for the Belgium national team.

The winger’s contract at Brighton and Hove Albion is about to expire and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, with Barcelona showing the most concrete interest in an attempt to lure the player to their team.

His impressive performances in the last two seasons have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.

La Liga giants are delving into the transfer market for an experienced winger and have done well to identify the 28-year-old as a potential target. Xavi is a firm fan of Brighton winger and Barcelona could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

The former Genk man is a dynamic winger, who possesses good technical skills and ball control. He has got the skillset to give Xavi more options in the final third.

According to the report, “Barcelona are eyeing Brighton attacker Leandro Trossard. The Belgium international’s future at Falmer stadium is in doubt as he attracts big club interest. Sport says among suitors are Barca, which have Trossard on their scouting list. A move this month is unlikely. Instead, knowing Trossard’s deal will expire in June, Barca view him as a Bosman prospect. Trossard is back at Brighton after being part of Belgium’s World Cup squad.”
