Watford and Middlesbrough are pushing to sign Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman

It’s been a transfer window full of surprises.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Watford and Middlesbrough are pushing to sign Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman.

The Ghana international joined Chelsea from FC Augsburg for a fee in the region of 26 million euros in August 2015. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.

In 23 appearances for Chelsea, Rahman has created two goals for his teammates.

The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best left-backs in Ghana.

Baba Rahman has earned 25 senior caps for the Ghana national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.

The 26-year-old is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Chelsea this autumn and the list of suitors in the Ghana international continues to grow.

Watford and Middlesbrough are looking to sign a left-back and have identified the 26-year-old as potential transfer target.

Baba Rahman is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

According to the report, “Watford and Middlesbrough are emerging as options for Chelsea fullback Baba Rahman. The 26-year-old has not played much for the blues since signing from Augsburg. He suffered a knee injury while on African Cup of Nations duty, and has never fully recovered. But he has received decent reviews for his loan spells at Schalke, Reims and Mallorca. Now he could join a Championship team, as Boro and Watford want to sign him before the domestic transfer window closes, per Goal. Rahman knows he has no chance of getting game time with Chelsea, and wants to move for first team football.”

Chelsea are preparing to sell their left-back should they receive right offer for him.

Good signing for Watford or Middlesbrough?

If Baba Rahman is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Watford and Middlesbrough.

A move to Watford or Middlesbrough is exactly what Baba Rahman needs to reignite his career, and we hope he is able to do just that.

It will be interesting to see whether Watford or Middlesbrough will make their move during this transfer window.
