Tottenham set to sign West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone
It is an open secret that Tottenham need to sign a goalkeeper.
According to multiple reports emanating from England, Tottenham are set to sign West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
He has been subject to interest from various Premier League clubs.
The 29-year-old’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
Since his arrival from Manchester United, Johnstone has conceded 216 goals and provided 45 clean sheets in 167 games for West Brom.
He is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in England. As a member of England national football team, Johnstone won 3 caps.
The goalkeeper will leave West Brom at the end of this season after failing to agree a new contract.
Antonio Conte wants to sign a new goalkeeper and Sam Johnstone is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. Johnstone is a long-term target of Tottenham and could be a decent addition for Conte’s side.
The Spurs will have funds to spend in the market and it will be interesting to see how they approach the summer transfer window.
According to the report, “Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Manchester United to the signing of Sam Johnstone. The West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper is a wanted man after the Baggies failed to win promotion back to the Premier League this season. Johnstone, who came through the academy ranks at Old Trafford, has been at the Hawthorns since leaving United in 2018. Spurs are keen to find a long-term successor for Hugo Lloris, who will be a free agent in 2024. The London Evening Standard says Antonio Conte is confident Tottenham will beat the Red Devils in landing Johnstone. The 29-year-old was left out of the West Brom squad for the final month of the Championship run-in after he made it clear he wanted to leave.”

Tottenham will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Johnstone to join the club.
Good signing for Tottenham?
If Tottenham and Antonio Conte are seriously considering a goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone could also prove to be a smart option.
Sam Johnstone has all the skillset required to be a success story at Tottenham. Therefore, it makes sense for Conte to step up his attempts to bring the English goalkeeper to Premier League side.
If Antonio Conte sees him as the right man for his side, Tottenham should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
