Tottenham poised to land Thiago Silva

It’s no secret that Tottenham are interested in Thiago Silva. But who isn’t?

According to the football transfer rumours in British and French media, Tottenham are poised to land PSG centre-back Thiago Silva.

Silva has been at PSG since 2012 when he joined from Milan.

The centre-back has banged in one goal and provided one assist in 30 matches for PSG this term on all fronts.

The 35-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Brazil. His record for Brazil is impressive. Silva has scored 7 goals in 88 matches for Brazil at senior level.

Given that his contract is expiring soon and he has not yet signed an extension, the rumors have only heated up in recent weeks.

Adding a centre-back remains Tottenham’s top priority this summer and Jose Mourinho will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.

The Spurs manager has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move this summer.

Tottenham are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

There is no doubt that Thiago Silva will take Tottenham’s defense to a different level.

According to the report, “Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is determined to land Thiago Silva this summer. PSG have announced Silva, 35, will leave once his contract expires at the end of the season. Everton and Arsenal are both interested in the Brazil international. But The Sun says Mourinho wants the experienced centre-back at Spurs. Silva has confirmed he wants to stay in Europe, leaving the Premier League’s top clubs wanting his signature. But Silva’s £350,000-a-week contract at PSG could be a stumbling block in negotiations with the notoriously frugal Spurs chief Daniel Levy.”

Tottenham will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Thiago Silva to join the club.

Good signing for Tottenham?

However, a move to Tottenham will be ideal for the 35-year-old at this point of his career.

The 35-year-old would be a very good addition for Tottenham and they can afford him as well.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Tottenham.

The ball is in Tottenham’s court and they need to take a decision on signing Thiago Silva.

How strong that interest is and whether Spurs will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
