Schalke keen to land Bas Dost
There has been intense speculation surrounding the future of Bas Dost in the last period.
According to the football transfer rumours in Dutch media, Schalke are keen to land Sporting CP striker Bas Dost.
The Netherlands international was signed by Sporting in August 2016 from VfL Wolfsburg for a fee of 11.85 million euros. The 30-year-old has a contract until 2021 with the club.
The 30-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Netherlands. As a member of Netherlands national football team, Dost won 18 caps and he scored one goal.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Schalke.
The Schalke manager has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move this summer.
The Netherlands international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker.
According to Football Oranje (via A Bola), “Schalke are interested in signing Bas Dost from Sporting club de Portugal. Sporting is reportedly struggling with debts and could look to offload some of their star players this summer. Dost is open to leaving Portugal and A Bola is reporting that Schalke have enquired about his price tag. The Bundesliga club have been told that the striker would cost €20 million. Dost, who moved to the club from Wolfsburg three years ago, still has two-years left on his contract with Sporting.”

It would take a huge offer from Schalke to prise the 30-year-old striker from Sporting.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Schalke.
How strong that interest is and whether Schalke will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
