forward Fyodor Smolov has emerged as a surprise target for Real Madrid in the winter transfer window.

Spanish source report that Real Madrid will make firm offer for Krasnodar forward Fyodor Smolov.

The Russia international joined Krasnodar from Dynamo Moscow on a free transfer in July 2015. The 27-year-old has a valid contract with Krasnodar until June 2019.

Since his arrival from Dynamo Moscow, Fyodor Smolov has scored 59 goals and provided 16 assists in 90 games for Krasnodar, including 10 goals and two assists in 15 games in all competitions this season.

Fyodor Smolov has represented Russia at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 48 caps and scoring 24 goals, before making his senior international debut in November 2012. As a member of Russia national football team, Fyodor Smolov won 28 caps and he scored 11 goals.

Real Madrid are in the market for a new forward when the transfer window reopens.

The report claims that Real Madrid has extensively scouted Fyodor Smolov and is considering a move for the forward.

Real Madrid will be desperate to make an impact in winter transfer window.

The 27-year-old would be a very good addition for Real Madrid and they can afford him as well.

According to the report, Fyodor Smolov may not be a familiar one to LaLiga fans around the globe but the Krasnodar forward is one of the players Los Blancos are in with a shout of signing this January. Smolov caught the eye with a brace in the recent friendly against Spain and he is expected to lead the line for the World Cup hosts this summer. While there are bigger names ahead of the forward on Real’s wishlist, it could end up being the case that Smolov is brought to Madrid with the club confident that he can make an immediate impact on their goalscoring woes.

How strong that interest is and whether Real Madrid will make a winter move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
