Mark van Bommel is looking to shore up his defensive options and Real Valladolid’s Fernando Calero happens to be a target. The PSV Eindhoven manager has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move this summer.

Fernando Calero has the talent to play many roles in defense.

According to Football Oranje (via Voetbal International), “PSV Eindhoven are interested in signing Real Valladolid centre-back Fernando Calero. PSV are looking for a new centre-back this summer and are reportedly close to sealing a deal for Stuttgart’s Timo Baumgartl. Voetbal International are reporting that PSV have also enquired about the availability of Valladolid’s Fernando Calero. The 23-year-old is valued at €10 million. Calero, who previously played for Malaga, made 36 La Liga appearances for Valladolid last season. The club is owned by former PSV Eindhoven striker Ronaldo. ”

Real Valladolid would be wise to keep the Spain international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Undoubtedly Calero would be a fantastic recruit for PSV.

How strong that interest is and whether PSV will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
