Manchester United submit bid for Dynamo Kiev left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko

Manchester United are reportedly holding intense negotiations with Dynamo Kiev in order to sign Vitaliy Mykolenko in the winter transfer window.

According to the football transfer rumours in British and Ukrainian media, Manchester United have submitted bid for Vitaliy Mykolenko.

The 21-year-old left-back has played all his life at Dynamo Kiev. He has made his way through the youth system at the Ukrainian club and made his senior debut in 2016.

The left-back has provided two assists in 11 matches for Dynamo this term on all fronts.

The 21-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Ukraine.

Vitaliy Mykolenko has represented Ukraine at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 27 caps and scoring 2 goals, before making his senior international debut in November 2018. As a member of Ukraine national football team, Mykolenko won 11 caps.

The Ukraine international will be high in demand this winter, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Dynamo Kiev this term.

United are looking to sign a left-back and have identified the 21-year-old as potential transfer target. They have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær is a long term admirer of Mykolenko and believes he can get the most out of the Ukraine international.

Manchester are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.

The Dynamo Kiev left-back heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third. His arrival would give Manchester United some much needed tactical flexibility.

According to the report, “Manchester United are tracking Dynamo Kiev defender Vitaliy Mykolenko. Ukrainian media sources report United have Mykolenko under consideration ahead of the January market. Indeed, it’s claimed United have made a proposal to take the defender on-loan in January with the option to buy outright in June. Mykolenko is rated at around £12m in the open market. The 21-year-old is regular for Dynamo and also has broken into the national team this year.”

Dynamo are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the left-back, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

Good signing for Manchester United?

If Mykolenko is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Manchester.

It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.

Given Mykolenko’s talent and potential, he would be a very good signing for Manchester United in the long run.

How strong that interest is and whether Manchester United will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
