Manchester United eyeing Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili as a new first team shot stopper. This comes as the Red Devils seek to add a new goalkeeper to Erik ten Hag’s squad in the summer, following veteran David De Gea’s rejection of their most recent contract proposal.
According to reports from Spain, Mamardashvili is emerging as a serious alternative for United. The 22-year-old joined Valencia from Dinamo Tbilisi on a one-year loan deal, with a buyout clause, in June 2021. He impressed during his time with the club, leading to his permanent signing on a contract until 2024, with an option for a further year.
Despite Valencia’s struggles in La Liga this season, Mamardashvili has managed to make an impact with his skills as a goalkeeper. He has only managed to keep five clean sheets, but was twice included in the league’s symbolic team of the week. His Transfermarkt value is currently 25 million euros.
