Swansea City midfielder Roque Mesa has emerged as a surprise target for Malaga in the winter transfer window.

Malaga are eyeing move for Swansea City midfielder Roque Mesa, according to the football transfer rumours in Spanish media.

The Spain international has joined Swansea City from Las Palmas for a fee in the region of 12.5 million euros in July 2017. The 28-year-old has a valid contract with Swansea City until June 2021.

Mesa has played only 6 times for Swansea City since signing from Las Palmas.

The 28-year-old is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Swansea City this winter and the list of suitors in the Spain international continues to grow.

Michel is looking to shore up his midfield options and Swansea City’s Roque Mesa happens to be a target.

The Spain international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfield player Michel wants to target in the winter transfer window.

Malaga will be in the market for just a handful of statement signings this winter who can improve the first-team.

According to the report in Spanish media, Malaga are considering an approach for the 28-year-old, with Michel already admitting the club are hopeful of signing a midfield ‘pivot’ in January. Malaga and Swansea City have strong relationship between the clubs following Borja Baston’s summer loan move from the Liberty Stadium.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Malaga come calling for Roque Mesa in January.
