Who is Lucas Torreira? – New Everton target

Lucas Sebastián Torreira Di Pascua plays as a defensive midfielder for Sampdoria. The Uruguay prodigy is a strong and determined midfielder who wins tackles and scores goals.

Torreira started his youth career at hometown club I.A. 18 de Julio.

In 2013, Lucas Torreira joined youth football team of Montevideo Wanderers’ at the age of 17.

In 2014, moved to Italy where he joined Pescara’s youth team. After impressing for the Delfini’s primavera squad, he made his league debut for the first team against Varese.

In 2015, Torreira transferred to Sampdoria for a fee in the region of 2 million euros, but the Uruguay international remained with Pescara on loan for the season 2015/16 to gain first-team experience. The Uruguay international midfielder scored his first professional goal against F.C. Sudtirol in the Coppa Italia. Lucas Torreira played 26 games and scored three league goals. He also played three games and scored one goal in the promotion playoffs.

In 2016, Lucas Torreira returned to Sampdoria, after the loan period with Pescara expired.

In August 2016, Torreira made his Serie A debut in their opening game against Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani. The midfielder started the game and played the entirety of the 90 minutes on the field.



In the season 2016/17, Torreira became a regular for Sampdoria, and continued showing his importance to the team.

This season, Torreira has started every single one of the Blucerchiati’s 13 Serie A games so far. Consequently, he is one of the rising young talents in the league. The Uruguay prodigy scored vital goals in Serie A, including the second goal in Sampdoria’s 3-2 win over Juventus in November.
