Liverpool join the hunt for Yves Bissouma
The midfield department of the Liverpool squad needs quality additions this winter.
The reports in Turkey suggested that Liverpool have joined the hunt for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.
The 25-year-old has been with Brighton since 2018, having signed for the club from Lille for 16.9 million euros. The Mali international’s current deal expires in 2023.
The midfielder has banged in one goal in five matches for Brighton this term on all fronts.
He is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Mali. As a member of Mali national football team, Bissouma won 18 caps and he scored 3 goals.
His performances have seen him become the target of many Premier League clubs including Liverpool.
The report claims that Liverpool manager has extensively scouted Bissouma and is considering a move for the midfielder.
Jurgen Klopp is a long term admirer of Bissouma and believes he can get the most out of the Mali international.
The Reds are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
Yves Bissouma would provide a good variety to Liverpool’s midfield.
According to the report, “Liverpool are being linked with Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma. Turkish reporter Ekrem Konur states Liverpool are one of a host of Premier League clubs in talks to sign the Mali international in January. He goes on to say that Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are the other clubs interested in signing Bissouma. However, Konur goes further and says that Bissouma has been on Reds manager Jurgen Klopp’s radar for a long time, despite his £30m valuation. The report adds that Liverpool are preparing to make an offer to sign Bissouma in January, and are prepared to meet Brighton’s valuation of the player.”

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Liverpool.
How strong that interest is and whether Liverpool will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
