In the modern world of football, the transfer season lasts year-round. While the literal transfers of players take place in the summer and winter windows, rumors, speculation and even concrete agreements can happen any time.
The reports in England suggested that Liverpool are eyeing move for Sporting winger Pedro Goncalves.
Sporting spent 6.5 million euros to sign the Portugal international from Famalicão in the summer of 2020. The 23-year-old has five years left on his current contract which expires in 2026.
The winger has featured in 10 matches for Sporting CP this term, netting 4 goals and providing one assists in all competitions.
The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best wingers in Portugal. As a member of Portugal national football team, Goncalves won two caps.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
The Reds have earmarked Sporting winger as their target, with Jürgen Klopp being a ‘huge admirer’ of the player. The report claims that Liverpool manager has extensively scouted Goncalves and is considering a move for the winger.
The Portugal international will offer the Liverpool boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.
According to the report, “Goncalves is on the radar of Liverpool, but the winger would come at a large fee after scoring 26 goals in 34 appearances for Sporting in 2020. It is reported Goncalves would cost around £75 million, with Liverpool watching the winger for 18 months. Goncalves is a former Wolves youth teamer.”
