Leeds willing to buy Ross Barkley

The Chelsea midfielder has been identified as one of the club’s potential targets as Marcelo Bielsa looks to add more reinforcements in the midfield unit.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Leeds United are willing to buy Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley.

The 27-year-old has been subject to interest from various Premier League clubs.

Chelsea spent 16.8 million euros to sign the England international from Everton in the winter of 2018. The 27-year-old has two years left on his current contract which expires in 2023.

The midfielder has featured in only 8 matches this term in all competitions.

The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in England. Barkley has also left his mark at the international stage after netting 6 goals in 33 senior appearances for the England national team.

He is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Chelsea this winter and the list of suitors in the England international continues to grow.

Adding a midfielder remains Leeds United’s top priority this winter and Bielsa will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.

Bielsa is a long term admirer of Barkley and believes he can get the most out of the England international.

There is no doubt that Ross Barkley will take Leeds United’s midfield to a different level.

According to the report, “Leeds United are reportedly interested in Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley. Barkley has been restricted to only 126 minutes of Premier League football this term. Leeds are struggling with injuries at the moment and Sunday’s loss to Tottenham sees them in 17th on the table. And the Yorkshire club are looking to sign Barkley in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail. The Englishman was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 3-0 convincing win over Leicester.”

The Blues are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the midfielder, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

Good signing for Leeds United?

If Barkley is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Leeds.

The 27-year-old could be a very good squad player for Marcelo Bielsa over the next few years. He is at the peak of his career right now and Bielsa could bring out the best in him.

A move to Leeds United is exactly what Barkley needs to reignite his career, and we hope he is able to do just that.

How strong that interest is and whether Leeds will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
