FC Basel’s Arthur Cabral is the striker that Leeds are reportedly looking at to bolster their attacking options.
According to the football transfer rumours in British and Spanish media, Leeds United are frontrunners to land FC Basel striker Arthur Cabral.
The 23-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Brazil international joined Basel from Palmeiras for a fee in the region of 6 million euros in July 2020. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.
The striker has banged in 25 goals and provided 8 assists in 26 matches this term on all fronts.
The 23-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Brazil. Cabral has represented Brazil at Under-23 level, winning one cap.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Leeds.
By the club’s own admission, Basel striker Cabral is Leeds United’s number one transfer target.
He is a long-term target of Leeds and could be a decent addition for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
The former Palmeiras man provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Leeds United are now the frontrunners to land FC Basel striker Arthur Cabral. Cabral, 23, was first linked with a move to Elland Road last summer. The Whites were willing to pay €17million (£14.4m) to give the star his first shot at the Premier League. But Basel held firm as they saw the Brazilian as being integral to their success during 2020-21. He did not disappoint, notching 18 goals in 33 Swiss Super League appearances. He was also on target twice in the Europa League qualifiers before Basel’s defeat to CSKA Sofia. Cabral is setting the Swiss League alight again this term. He is on 14 goals in as many appearances, with 11 more coming in Basel’s Europa Conference League campaign. It’s clear that the player has a keen eye for goal, and could become a regular goalscorer in England under the guidance of Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa. Sport Witness, citing Spanish newspaper Sport, provide an update on Leeds’ pursuit of Cabral. They write that Bielsa’s side are leading the race to capture him in January.”
