Lazio appear to have a genuine interest in signing Cristante.
According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Lazio are poised to land Benfica midfielder Bryan Cristante.
The Italy international has joined Benfica from Milan for a fee in the region of 5.2 million euros in September 2014. The 22-year-old has a valid contract with Benfica until June 2019. In January 2017, Bryan Cristante was sent to Atalanta on loan.
Since his arrival from Benfica, Cristante has scored 8 goals and provided 2 assists in 26 games for Atalanta, including 5 goals in 14 games in all competitions this season.
The Italy international has been in outstanding form this season.
Bryan Cristante has represented Italy at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 31 caps and scoring 7 goals, before making his senior international debut in October 2017. As a member of Italy national football team, Bryan Cristante has won one cap.

The Lazio manager has kept an eye on Bryan Cristante for the last 12 months and he is impressed with the midfielder’s performances.

The Italy international would be a versatile addition for the Lazio, having featured at central midfield and in a defensive midfield role.
According to the report in Italian media, Lazio have enquired about his availability for January or next season, but Atalanta have an option to buy him for a fee in the region of 4 million euros.
How strong that interest is and whether Lazio will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
