According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Lazio are linked with surprise move for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The 26-year-old’s contract at Chelsea is set to expire at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. The midfielder has featured in 31 matches this term, providing four assists in all competitions.
He is considered to be one of the best midfielders in England. Loftus-Cheek has earned 10 senior caps for the England national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Lazio.
Maurizio Sarri wants to sign a new midfielder and Loftus-Cheek is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. Sarri is a firm fan of Chelsea midfielder and Lazio could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The 26-year-old has the talent to play many roles in midfield. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is emerging as a surprise target for Lazio. The England star has been in and out of the Blues team under Thomas Tuchel this season. While Loftus-Cheek is in Chelsea’s plans, the all-action star may believe he can get more game time elsewhere. According to Corriere dello Sport, ex-Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri believes that Loftus-Cheek can offer a lot in Serie A. He is targeting the midfielder for Lazio, who may be looking to replace star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the summer. There is no suggestion about how much Chelsea would look to recoup for Loftus-Cheek, or if Lazio would attempt to secure him via a one-year loan deal.”

Considering they don’t have a big budget, Lazio will have to be smart with the signings in the transfer window.
If Lazio can tie up a cheap deal for the player, it may not be a bad signing by any means.
Good signing for Lazio?
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has all the skillset required to be a success story at Lazio. Therefore, it makes sense for Maurizio Sarri to step up his attempts to bring the England midfielder to Serie A side.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Rome.
How strong that interest is and whether Lazio will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
