Lazio front runners for Udinese right-back Silvan Widmer
According to the football transfer rumours in Italian Media (Laziochannel), Lazio are front runners for Udinese right-back Silvan Widmer.
The Switzerland international has joined Udinese in 2013. The 24-year-old has a valid contract with Udinese until June 2020.
Since his arrival, Silvan Widmer has scored two goals and provided 16 assists in 116 games for Udinese, including four assists in 29 games in all competitions this season.
The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the best right-backs in Switzerland.
Silvan Widmer has represented Switzerland at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 33 caps and scoring five goals, before making his senior international debut in October 2014. As a member of Switzerland national football team, Silvan Widmer has won nine caps.
Widmer has been long term target of Simone Inzaghi as the manager look to bolster his defensive options for the next season.
Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi wants to continue to strengthening his squad so they’re able to compete both domestically and in the Europa League next season.
The Switzerland international is a player who has impressed many European clubs in the last few seasons, and it is understood that Simone Inzaghi would prefer playing him as a right-back.
The right-back can also play as a full-back, offering Simone Inzaghi a different option should he change his formation at Lazio.
Serie A giants Napoli are apparently trailing Lazio in the pursuit of Udinese right-back.
According to the report in Italian Media, Lazio have already made a formal proposal for the Switzerland international worth in the region of 8 million euros.
Silvan Widmer would reportedly be interested in a move this summer, but if Lazio do want him, they will have to beat those other interested clubs to his signature.
