Lazio leading the race for Southampton forward Manolo Gabbiadini

Lazio are showing strong interest in Manolo Gabbiadini.

According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Lazio are leading the race for Southampton forward Manolo Gabbiadini.

The Italy international joined Southampton from Napoli for a fee in the region of 17 million euros in January 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2021.

Since his arrival from Napoli, Manolo Gabbiadini has scored 10 goals in 41 games for Southampton, including four goals in 29 games in all competitions this season.

The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best forwards in Italy.

Manolo Gabbiadini has represented Italy at Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 27 caps and scoring 14 goals, before making his senior international debut in August 2012. As a member of Italy national football team, Gabbiadini won 11 caps and he scored two goals.

The 26-year-old is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Southampton this summer and the list of suitors in the Italy international continues to grow.

Simone Inzaghi wants to sign a new forward and Manolo Gabbiadini is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

Lazio have built a reputation for recruiting talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.

Inzaghi is a long term admirer of Gabbiadini and believes he can get the most out of the Italy international.

According to Football Italia, “It is reported that Manolo Gabbiadini could be on his way out of Southampton, with Lazio a possible destination. The forward joined the English Premier League side from Napoli in the early part of last year but, after a promising start to his Saints career, the 26-year-old has found himself on the margins of the first team. As a result, journalist Alfredo Pedulla is reporting on his official website that Gabbiadini’s wish is to return to Serie A at the end of the season.”

Southampton are preparing to sell their forward should they receive a right offer for him.

Bologna are apparently trailing Lazio in the pursuit of Southampton forward.

The 26-year-old is certainly a player that would strengthen the current Lazio squad and would be a good buy in the summer transfer window.
