Inter considering a move for Chelsea star Kalidou Koulibaly

There has been intense speculation surrounding the future of Kalidou Koulibaly in the last period.

The reports in Italy suggested that Inter are considering a move for Chelsea centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Senegal international only joined Chelsea from Napoli in 2022 for 38 million euros and his contract runs to June 2026.

In 11 appearances for Chelsea, Koulibaly has managed to score one goal.

The 31-year-old is the best centre-back in Senegal. Koulibaly has also left his mark at the international stage after netting one goal in 68 senior appearances for the Senegal national team.

Simone Inzaghi is eager to add a centre-back to the squad. He wants an experienced player that can be a leader on and off the pitch for him. Inzaghi is a firm fan of Chelsea centre-back and Inter could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

The Black and Blues are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

The former Napoli man heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third. He has the talent to play many roles in defense.

According to the report, “Inter Milan are exploring the prospect of bringing Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly back to Italy. The Senegal international only left Napoli for Chelsea last summer. However, La Repubblica says Koulibaly is being considered at Inter as a replacement for Milan Skriniar, who is off contract in June. Inter have registered their interest during talks with Chelsea about extending the loan of Romelu Lukaku.”

Euro Football Rumours

Inter will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Chelsea to the negotiating table. They have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.

The English giants would be wise to keep the Senegal international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Good signing for Inter?

Inter in particular need to sort out a centre-back for the next season and the 31-year-old could be a solid signing for them.

Kalidou Koulibaly has all the skillset required to be a success story at San Siro Stadium. Therefore, it makes sense for Inzaghi to step up his attempts to bring back the Senegal centre-back to Serie A side.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Inter.

How strong that interest is and whether Inter will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
