Huddersfield set to loan Monaco defender Terence Kongolo

Huddersfield Town are reportedly one of many clubs keeping tabs on Netherlands international Terence Kongolo.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Huddersfield Town are set to loan AS Monaco defender Terence Kongolo.

AS Monaco reportedly paid Feyenoord 15 million euros for Terence Kongolo in the summer 2017. The 23-year-old has a valid contract with AS Monaco until June 2022.

The Netherlands international made only six appearances (503 minutes) across all competitions for AS Monaco.

Terence Kongolo has represented Netherlands at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 32 caps and scoring two goals, before making his senior international debut in May 2014. As a member of Netherlands national football team, Kongolo won three caps.

The AS Monaco manager does not see him in his plans and would be open to letting him leave.

David Wagner is looking to shore up his defensive options and AS Monaco’s Terence Kongolo happens to be a target. He is a long term admirer of Kongolo and believes he can get the most out of the Netherlands international.

Huddersfield Town will be in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

According to the report, Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner has confirmed they are close to landing AS Monaco defender Terence Kongolo. The 23-year-old defender could arrive on loan before the FA Cup third-round trip to Bolton on Saturday. Kongolo is a left-sided centre half with good pace and a strong aerial presence.

Signing the 23-year-old in January would be a masterstroke from David Wagner.
