Veljko Paunović wants to sign a new midfielder and Andres Guardado is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. Guardado is a long-term target of Chicago Fire and could be a decent addition for Veljko Paunović’s side.

There is no doubt that Guardado will take Chicago Fire’s midfield to a different level.

According to Football Espana, “Real Betis midfielder Andres Guardado will join MLS side Chicago Fire next year, according to a report in Mexican outlet TUDN. It is claimed by the media site that MLS are already in negotiations with Betis over the deal and while the Mexican international will make the decision on what club he joins, Chicago Fire are best placed to land him. The experienced midfielder formerly spent seven years in La Liga across stints with Deportivo La Coruna and Valencia, while he has also played for Bayer Leverkusen. The player has suffered from fitness and injury issues over the past 18 months but has avoided any serious or long-term problems.”

If Chicago are genuinely interested, a deal would not be impossible to complete.

Undoubtedly he would be a fantastic recruit for Chicago Fire.

Chicago fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club.

How strong that interest is and whether Chicago Fire will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
