Chicago Fire to make a move for Andres Guardado
Chicago Fire are planning a move for Real Betis midfielder Andres Guardado.
The reports in Spain suggested that Chicago Fire will make a move for Andres Guardado.
The Mexico international was signed by Real Betis in July 2017 from PSV for a fee of 2.5 million euros. The 32-year-old has a contract until 2020 with the club.
In total, Guardado has scored 2 goals and supplied 12 assists from 76 Real Betis matches.
The 32-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Mexico.
His record for Mexico is also impressive. Guardado has scored 29 goals in 161 matches for Mexico at senior level.
Veljko Paunović wants to sign a new midfielder and Andres Guardado is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. Guardado is a long-term target of Chicago Fire and could be a decent addition for Veljko Paunović’s side.
There is no doubt that Guardado will take Chicago Fire’s midfield to a different level.
According to Football Espana, “Real Betis midfielder Andres Guardado will join MLS side Chicago Fire next year, according to a report in Mexican outlet TUDN. It is claimed by the media site that MLS are already in negotiations with Betis over the deal and while the Mexican international will make the decision on what club he joins, Chicago Fire are best placed to land him. The experienced midfielder formerly spent seven years in La Liga across stints with Deportivo La Coruna and Valencia, while he has also played for Bayer Leverkusen. The player has suffered from fitness and injury issues over the past 18 months but has avoided any serious or long-term problems.”
