Burnley looking to loan Chelsea star Ross Barkley

The upcoming winter will see Burnley improving their midfield department.

Reports in the British media claim that Burnley are looking to loan Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley.

The 27-year-old has been subject to interest from various Premier league clubs.

Chelsea spent 16.8 million euros to sign the England international from Everton in the winter of 2018. The 27-year-old has two years left on his current contract which expires in 2023.

The midfielder has only featured in three matches this term in all competitions.

Barkley has left his mark at the international stage after netting six goals in 33 senior appearances for the England national team.

He is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Chelsea this winter and the list of suitors in the England international continues to grow.

Adding a midfielder remains Burnley’s top priority this winter and Dyche will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.

Sean Dyche is a firm fan of Chelsea midfielder and Burnley could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

Burnley are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

There is no doubt that Barkley will take Burnley’s midfield to a different level.

According to the report, “Burnley are interested in Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley. The Sun says Barkley is only getting limited game time at Stamford Bridge and could be available for loan in the next window. Barkley, 27, was on Sean Dyche’s radar in the summer. But there was no encouragement from the player’s end so soon after a return from a loan at Aston Villa. Burnley are prepared to pay a chunk of his massive salary for half a season to help them out of the drop zone. And unless Chelsea are hit by an injury crisis, Barkley seems sure to be available.”

Considering they don’t have a big budget, Burnley will have to be smart with the signings in the winter transfer window.

If Burnley can agree on a fee with Chelsea, the deal should be easy to complete.

Good signing for Burnley?

Burnley could benefit by signing Ross Barkley as the midfielder is one of the areas of concern for Sean Dyche.

A move away from Chelsea will not be only the best move for Ross Barkley, but also for the club.

All in all, Ross Barkley will be an ideal choice for Sean Dyche as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his midfielders.

It will be interesting to see whether Burnley will make their loan move during the winter transfer window.
