Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka has emerged as a surprise target for Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
The Germany international was signed by Schalke 04 in July 2013 from VfL Bochum for a fee of 3.25 million euros. The 22-year-old has a valid contract with Schalke 04 until June 2018.
Goretzka has played 118 times for Schalke 04 since signing from VfL Bochum, scoring 15 goals and creating 12 assists in that time.
The Germany international has been in outstanding form for Schalke 04 last season.

The midfielder has just 12 months remaining on his contract and Schalke 04 may consider a deal in this transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
