Barcelona considering a move for Elche striker Lucas Boye
The Spanish giants are on the hunt for a striker, and Lucas Boye is a player who is thought to be on their radar.
It’s claimed by Spanish media that Barcelona are considering a move for Elche striker Lucas Boye.
The Argentina international joined Elche from Torino for a fee in the region of 2 million euros in July 2021. His contract expires in the summer of 2024.
He has been in outstanding form. The striker banged in six goals and provided one assist in 16 matches this season across all fronts showcasing just how influential he has been in the final third.
His performances have seen him become the target of many La Liga clubs including Barcelona.
Adding a striker remains Barcelona’s top priority this winter and Xavi will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming days. He is a firm fan of Elche striker and Barcelona could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
Barcelona are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.
The former Torino man provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Xavi’s side.
According to the report, “Elche striker Lucas Boye is interesting Barcelona this month. Esport 3 reports Barcelona have been considering Boye as they seek a striker signing. The Argentine forward is having his second season with the east coast side, who in the summer bought him from Torino after loaning him last season. He has 14 goals in 52 games. Previously Boye had experience with Celta Vigo, although did not net for them. At 25 he would take the Luuk de Jong role, so his arrival would depend on the Dutchman leaving.”

Elche are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the striker, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.
Good signing for Barcelona?
If Boye is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Barcelona.
He has all the skillset required to be a success story at Barcelona. Therefore, it makes sense for Xavi to step up his attempts to bring the Argentina striker to La Liga side.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Barcelona.
How strong that interest is and whether Barcelona will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
