The reports in Spain suggested that Barcelona are eyeing Mikkel Damsgaard.
Sampdoria spent 6.75 million euros to sign the Denmark international from Nordsjælland in 2020. The 20-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.
The winger has banged in two goals and provided four assists in 37 matches for Sampdoria last term on all fronts.
The 20-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Denmark. He has also represented the Denmark at various youth levels before going on to secure 6 senior caps for his country thus far.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
The Spanish giants are looking to sign a winger and have identified the 20-year-old as potential transfer target.
Ronald Koeman has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe. The Barcelona manager has been impressed by his performances last season and could make a move this summer.
Koeman wants to continue to strengthening his squad so they’re able to compete both domestically and in the Champions League next season.
Mikkel Damsgaard would provide a good variety to Barcelona’s attack.
According to the report, “Barcelona are watching Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard. He scored a brilliant goal against Russia from distance for Denmark earlier in the Euros. His birthday gift will be to play in the quarter-finals against Netherlands or Czech Republic. AC Milan are interested as they may sell Rafael Leao, while Barca are also watching the youngster this month at Euro 2020.”
