The attacking department of the Monaco squad needs quality additions this summer.
It’s claimed by Spanish media that AS Monaco are eyeing move for Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz.
The 25-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
Diaz made 33 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid, scoring 9 goals and supplying 2 assists in return. He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
As a member of Dominican Republic national football team, Diaz won one cap and he scored one goal.
Mariano Diaz is out of the picture at Real Madrid, which has opened the door for a potential exit.
The Dominican Republic international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of striker Leonardo Jardim wants to target in the summer transfer window.
Monaco are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
According to Football Espana (via Marca), “Monaco are serious in their attempts to sign Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz this summer. The 25-year-old netted twice in Madrid’s 3-2 win over Villarreal in May in what was only his third league start of the campaign – whilst he is thought to be a peripheral figure again next season. He has not featured in any of the club’s three pre-season friendlies to date while Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the striker who spent the 2017/18 campaign in Ligue 1 with Lyon. The Dominican forward had previously netted just two goals across all competitions with game-time limited and suffering a series of hamstring injuries.”

It would take a huge offer from AS Monaco to prise the 25-year-old striker from Real Madrid.
Nevertheless, Mariano Diaz stands as an excellent option for Monaco.
Monaco fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club this summer.
How strong that interest is and whether Monaco will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
