The Italy international has been without a club since leaving Pescara last season.
The 35-year-old made only 3 appearances across all competitions for Pescara.
Alberto Gilardino has represented Italy at Under-15, Under-16, Under-18, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 47 caps and scoring 23 goals, before making his senior international debut in September 2004. As a member of Italy national football team, Alberto Gilardino has won 57 caps and has scored 19 goals.
Roy Hodgson wants to sign a new striker and Alberto Gilardino is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a long term admirer of Alberto Gilardino and believes he can get the most out of the Italy international.

Crystal Palace want a striker as cover following Christian Benteke’s injury.
