Wolverhampton join Leicester City in race for Real Betis star William Carvalho

There has been numerous midfielders linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers in past few months.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Wolverhampton have joined Leicester City in race for Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho.

The Portugal international was signed by Real Betis in July 2018 from Sporting CP for a fee of 20 million euros. The 28-year-old has a contract until 2023 with the club.

The midfielder has featured only in 9 matches for Real Betis this term.

The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Portugal.

The Real Betis midfielder has also represented the Portugal at various youth levels before going on to secure 59 senior caps for his country thus far.

The Portugal international is believed to be available for transfer, with Nuno Espírito Santo now keen to bring him to Wolverhampton.

William Carvalho is a long-term target of Wolverhampton and could be a decent addition for Nuno’s side.

The Portugal international will offer the Wolverhampton boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.

According to the report, “Wolves have joined the interest in Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho. Diario de Sevilla says Wolves have approached Real Betis about the availability of Carvalho. The 28-year-old defensive midfielder has suffered injuries this season, but Betis had hoped he could raise his value this summer at the European Championships, which has now been moved to next summer. Along with Wolves, Leicester City are also interested in Carvalho. Betis are eager to sell in order to help balance the books.”

Signing the 28-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Nuno Espírito Santo.
