Wolverhampton interested in Coventry’s star striker Viktor Gyokeres

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Viktor Gyokeres

, the highly-rated Coventry City forward. According to the Express and Star, Wolves are monitoring the 24-year-old’s progress and could make a bid for him in the upcoming transfer window.

Gyokeres has been in superb form for Coventry this season, scoring 22 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions, including 21 in the Championship. The Swedish international’s performances have caught the eye of Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui and the club’s scouting team, who have been impressed by his pace, skill, and finishing ability.

However, Wolves may face stiff competition for Gyokeres, as several other clubs are said to be interested in him. The report claims that the Premier League side would have to pay a fee of around £25 million to secure his services, which would make him one of the most expensive signings in Wolves’ history.

Coventry, for their part, are reluctant to let Gyokeres leave, as he has been a key player for them this season. The Sky Blues will be hoping to build on their promising campaign next year. Losing Gyokeres would be a blow to their ambitions, but they may find it hard to resist a big-money offer from Wolves or another top-flight club.

Wolves, meanwhile, are fighting to avoid relegation from the Premier League and are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. The Midlands club have struggled for goals this term, with leading scorer Raul Jimenez missing most of the campaign due to injury. Gyokeres could provide a much-needed boost to their attack and complement the likes of Adama Traore and Pedro Neto.

Whether Wolves will be able to land Gyokeres remains to be seen, but the Swede’s potential and form this season make him an attractive prospect for any club. Coventry will hope that he stays put, but if a big offer comes in, they may find it hard to turn down.
