West Ham willing to make 12 million euros offer for Gaetan Laborde

The attacking department of the West Ham squad needs quality additions this winter.

As per British and French media, West Ham are willing to make 12 million euros offer for Gaetan Laborde.

Montpellier spent 3 million euros to sign the France international from Bordeaux in the summer of 2018. The 26-year-old has two years left on his current contract which expires in 2022.

Gaetan Laborde has represented France at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 level, winning 21 caps and scoring 3 goals.

The 26-year-old will be high in demand this winter, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Montpellier this term.

Adding a striker remains West Ham’s top priority this winter and David Moyes will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.

The report claims that West Ham manager has extensively scouted Laborde and is considering a move for the striker.

The France international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His versatile nature can help the manager to be more flexible with the formations.

According to the report, “West Ham United are eyeing Montpellier striker Gaetan Laborde. L’Equipe says the Hammers are set to make an opening bid for the centre-forward. The Irons will bid €12m for Laborde, who has scored three goals in 12 games this season, plus five assists. In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen is also following him, as is Eintracht Frankfurt. MHSC president Laurent Nicollin will sell Laborde in January for the right price.”

Montpellier are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the striker, but offers of at least 12 million euros may force the club to consider a deal.

Good signing for West Ham?

The 26-year-old is certainly a player that would strengthen the current West Ham squad and would be a good buy in the winter transfer window.

Laborde has all the skillset required to be a success story at West Ham. Therefore, it makes sense for Moyes to step up his attempts to bring the France striker to Premier League side.

West Ham fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club.
