West Ham will look to sign Manchester United right-back Antonio Valencia
West Ham are showing strong interest in Antonio Valencia.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, West Ham will look to sign Manchester United right-back Antonio Valencia.
The Ecuador international joined Manchester United from Wigan Athletic for a fee in the region of 18.9 million euros in July 2009. His contract expires in the summer of 2019.
Antonio Valencia made 338 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United, scoring 25 goals and supplying 62 assists in return.
His record for Ecuador is also impressive. Antonio Valencia has scored 11 goals in 93 matches for Ecuador at senior level.
There has been no movement on Antonio Valencia agreeing a contract extension at Manchester United, and he will be on the radar of many English clubs during the summer.
The West Ham manager is in the market for a new right-back.
The Ecuador international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Manuel Pellegrini wants to target in the summer transfer window.
According to The Sun, “Old Trafford veteran will be out of contract this summer and there are no plans for him to discuss a new deal. West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini will move for Antonio Valencia — if Pablo Zabaleta decides this season will be his last. The Hammers want Zabaleta to stay but the 34-year-old full-back has yet to announce if he plans to play on next term.”

If West Ham are genuinely interested, a deal would not be impossible to complete.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in West Ham.
How strong that interest is and whether West Ham will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
