West Ham will look to sign Lille winger Jonathan Bamba

As the summer transfer window comes closer and closer West Ham are being linked with more and more potential transfers.

The reports in England suggested that West Ham will look to sign Lille winger Jonathan Bamba.

The France international joined Lille from Saint-Étienne on a free transfer in July 2018. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.

The winger has featured in 4 matches for Lille this term in all competitions.

He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

Bamba has represented France at Under-16, Under-18, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 31 caps and scoring 9 goals.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including West Ham.

David Moyes is keen to secure at least one more signing this summer, and Bamba could very well be a man under consideration. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

The Hammers are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

Jonathan Bamba is a dynamic winger, who possesses good technical skills and ball control. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to David Moyes’ side.

According to the report, “West Ham United are pursuing Lille midfielder Jonathan Bamba as an alternative to Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard. The Hammers wished to bring Lingard back to the club after his impressive second half of the season loan spell at the London Stadium outfit last term. But United have set a £25 million price, which West Ham are not prepared to meet. According to the Daily Express, the Hammers have identified Bamba as a better option to add attacking depth to their squad. While Bamba is rated at a similar price to Lingard, he is three years younger and may have a higher resale value if he improves at West Ham. Bamba managed six goals and nine assists for Lille during their Ligue 1 title success last term.”

The Hammers have to fork out a huge transfer fee if they are genuinely interested in the France international.

Lille would be wise to keep the France international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Good signing for West Ham?

Signing the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from David Moyes.

A wide player of Bamba’s technical quality will undeniably be a decent coup for West Ham if they can get him for a fair price.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in London.

It will be interesting to see if West Ham make their move for the 25-year-old in the coming days.
