West Ham United set to beat Manchester United and Everton to defender’s signature
According to the football transfer rumours in English Media, West Ham United are set to beat Premier Clubs Manchester United and Everton to Southampton’s defender signature Jose Fonte.
Jose Fonte has signed for Southampton from Crystal Palace for a fee believed to be around the region of 1.5 million euros, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract in 2010. The 33 year-old has a valid contract with Southampton until June 2018.
Since his arrival from Crystal Palace, Jose Fonte has scored 15 goals and provided nine assists in 286 games for Southampton, including 19 games in all competition this season.
Euro Football Rumours were informed that the Portugal international has rejected a new contract offer from Southampton earlier in the season and that he has alredy handed in a transfer request.
The 33-year-old was on the radar of Premier Clubs Manchester United and Everton for some while but it is their London Stadium counterparts, who have managed to finalize a deal for Southampton defender’s services.
Euro Football Rumours understands that West Ham United have had bid accepted in the region of 9.5 million euros for the Portugal international.
