West Ham looking to loan Chelsea midfielder

West Ham need to strengthen their midfield this winter.

The latest reports in England suggest that West Ham are looking to loan Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley.

The England international was signed by Chelsea in January 2018 from Everton for a fee of 16.8 million euros. The 26-year-old has a contract until 2023 with the club.

In 63 appearances for Chelsea, Ross Barkley has managed to score 7 goals, and create 6 goals for his teammates.

The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in England. As a member of England national football team, Barkley won 33 caps and he scored 6 goals.

Adding a midfielder remains West Ham’s priority this winter and David Moyes will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming days.

Moyes is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.

West Ham are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

Ross Barkley has the talent to play many roles in midfield.

According to the report, “West Ham boss David Moyes is making a loan bid for Chelsea and England midfielder Ross Barkley. Moyes wants a reunion with the schemer he nurtured at Everton after his progress through the Toffees’ youth teams, says the Mirror. Chelsea are so far refusing to loan Barkley with the club insistent that he remains an important part of their first-team plans. But Moyes is holding out hope that his former charge could be willing to pursue the regular first-team starts that would put him into Gareth Southgate’s thinking for Euro 2020. The club are considering other targets – including 23-year-old AC Milan midfielder Frank Kessie who is considering his options – but West Ham remain open to pursuing a deal for Barkley.”

West Ham fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club.

Will Barkley be a West Ham player soon? Only time will tell.
