Villarreal keen to land Roma midfielder Maxime Gonalons

The summer transfer window is still a three months away from officially opening up. However, that does not often stop clubs for making offers to buy players from other clubs.

Villarreal appear to have a genuine interest in signing Maxime Gonalons this summer.

The reports in Spain suggested that Villarreal are keen to land Roma midfielder Maxime Gonalons.

Roma reportedly paid Lyon 5 million euros for Maxime Gonalons earlier this season. The 29-year-old has a valid contract with Roma until June 2021.

Gonalons has played 12 times for Roma since signing from Lyon, creating two assists in that time.

Maxime Gonalons has also played in seven games for his country.

The France international is out of the picture at Roma, which has opened the door for a potential exit.

The Villarreal manager is in the market for a new midfielder when the transfer window reopens.

The France international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfield player Javier Calleja wants to target in the summer transfer window.

Maxime Gonalons has the talent to play many roles in midfield.

According to Football Espana,”Villarreal are keen on a deal to sign out-of-favour Roma midfielder Maxime Gonalons this summer”.

“Roma are said to be willing to recoup their transfer losses, according to Marca, allowing Villarreal to swoop for the player who fits their profile.” according to Football Espana (via Marca).

Signing the 29-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Javier Calleja.

A move to Villarreal is exactly what Maxime Gonalons needs to reignite his career, and we hope he is able to do just that.

Will Maxime Gonalons be a Villarreal player soon? Only time will tell.
