Tottenham willing to sign Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter
Matthias Ginter is a target for Tottenham.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Tottenham are willing to sign Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter.
The Germany international joined Borussia Monchengladbach from Borussia Dortmund for a fee in the region of 17 million euros in July 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.
In 152 appearances for Monchengladbach, Ginter has managed to score 10 goals, and create 5 goals for his teammates.
His record for Germany is also impressive. Ginter has scored 2 goals in 44 matches for Germany at senior level.
The centre-back has just one year left on his deal and he is yet to sign a new contract. The Germany international has openly expressed his desire to play at a higher level. This gives an indication that Matthias Ginter probably won’t commit his future at the club.
Fabio Paratici wants to sign a new centre-back and Ginter is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.
The Spurs have built a reputation for recruiting talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential. They are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.
The Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Tottenham director Fabio Paratici is maintaining interest in Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter. Spurs were also heavily linked with Ginter throughout the summer window, but a move ultimately failed to come to fruition. He will be out of contract at the end of the season, with Gladbach’s failure to cash in before last month’s deadline meaning he is likely to seal a free transfer elsewhere. Calciomercato.com says Spurs are keen admirers of Ginter and could look to bring him to the club without paying a transfer fee. However, the report claims that Spurs are by no means the only side with a desire to land the centre-back. Inter Milan and Real Madrid are believed to be keeping tabs on Ginter’s situation, while Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old.”

The Spurs will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Ginter to join the club.
Good signing for Tottenham?
Matthias Ginter stands as an excellent option for Tottenham. He has all the skillset required to be a success story in London. Therefore, it makes sense for Paratici to step up his attempts to bring the Germany centre-back to Premier League side.
How strong that interest is and whether Tottenham will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
