Tottenham target Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne

The upcoming summer will see Tottenham improving their defensive department.

The reports in Italy and England suggested that Tottenham are targeting Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne.

The 24-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The Belgium international joined Atalanta from Genk for a fee in the region of 6.5 million euros in July 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2021.

The right-back has featured in 19 matches for Atalanta this term, netting two goals and providing two assists in all competitions.

He’s incredibly experienced for a 24-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

As a member of Belgium national football team, Castagne won 7 caps and he scored two goals.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Tottenham.

By the club’s own admission, Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne is Tottenham’s transfer target.

Tottenham have built a reputation for recruiting talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.

The Belgium international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Jose Mourinho wants to target in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

The Belgium international will offer the Tottenham boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.

According to the report, “Tottenham are eyeing Atalanta defender Timothy Castagne. Castagne is weighing up his options ahead of the summer market and is being linked with PSG. But Le 10 Sport says Tottenham are also keen, where manager Jose Mourinho is a big fan. Mourinho is in the market for a new fullback and has approved a move for Castagne.”


Atalanta are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the right-back, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

Good signing for Tottenham?

Although he may not be an immediate improvement to the squad, he could be a valuable signing for the future if he continues to progress at this rate.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Tottenham.

Tottenham fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club.
