Tottenham are planning a move for Sporting midfielder Joao Palhinha.

The reports in Portugal suggested that Tottenham are preparing mega offer for Palhinha.

Sporting spent 37,000 euros to sign the Portugal international from Sacavenense in the winter of 2013. He has four years left on his current contract which expires in 2026.

The midfielder has banged in three goals in 36 matches this term on all fronts.

He is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Portugal. Palhinha has also left his mark at the international stage after netting two goals in 12 senior appearances for the Portugal national team.

Joao Palhinha is set to be a man in demand in the summer transfer window, with a host of clubs queuing up to pursue his signature.

Antonio Conte wants to sign a new midfielder and Palhinha is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a firm fan of Sporting CP midfielder and Tottenham could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

The Spurs are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte wants to reinforce his midfield at the end of the current campaign and Palhinha is an ‘ideal’ candidate to improve the centre of the park. Palhinha has enjoyed an excellent season with Sporting and has broken into the Portugal squad this past season. Sporting will sell this summer – but only for the right price.”

Sporting CP are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the midfielder, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

The 26-year-old is certainly a player that would strengthen the current Tottenham squad and would be a good buy in the summer transfer window.

Joao Palhinha has all the skillset required to be a success story at Tottenham. Therefore, it makes sense for Conte to step up his attempts to bring the Portugal midfielder to Premier League side.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in London.

Whether or not this is the end for Palhinha in Sporting remains to be seen. If the move goes through as reported, then it would be a fantastic deal for all parties involved.
