Tottenham linked with a move for Rennes striker M’Baye Niang

As the summer transfer window comes closer and closer Tottenham are being linked with more and more potential transfers.

According to the football transfer rumours in British and French media, Tottenham are linked with a move for Rennes striker M’Baye Niang.

The 25-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The Senegal international was signed by Rennes in July 2019 from Torino for a fee of 15 million euros. The 25-year-old has a contract until 2023 with the club.

The striker has banged in 15 goals and provided 2 assists in 36 matches for Rennes this term on all fronts.

The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Senegal. As a member of Senegal national football team, Niang won 15 caps and he scored 4 goals.

Niang has been in impressive form for Rennes this season and it looks like he caught the eye of many European clubs including Tottenham.

José Mourinho wants to sign a new striker and Niang is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The report claims that Tottenham manager has extensively scouted Niang and is considering a move for the striker. His arrival would give Tottenham some much needed tactical flexibility.

According to the report, “Rennes striker M’Baye Niang is being lined up for a return to England. L’Equipe says Niang is being considered by Tottenham as a back-up for Harry Kane. The England striker is Spurs’ undisputed No.1 forward, and is only ever unlikely to play if he’s either injured or being rested. Rennes striker Niang is on Spurs’ radar, though the playing time on offer is ‘very minimal’. Niang has also been linked with Marseille – who Andre Villa-Boas coaches – and a move to OM looks more likely at this point than sitting on the bench behind Kane. The striker had a previous spell in the Premier League with Watford.”

Tottenham will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Niang to join the club.

Good signing for Tottenham?

Signing the striker could be a good decision as he could improve Mourinho’s attacking options.

The 25-year-old would be a very good addition for Tottenham and they can afford him as well.

How strong that interest is and whether Tottenham will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
