Tottenham join the hunt for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer
The RB Leipzig midfielder has been identified as one of the club’s potential targets as Antonio Conte looks to add more reinforcements in midfield unit.
As per German media, Tottenham have joined the hunt for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer.
The 24-year-old has been with Leipzig since 2017, having signed for the club from Red Bull Salzburg for 7 million euros. His current deal expires in 2023.
He has featured in 40 matches this term, netting five goals and providing six assists in all competitions.
The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Austria. As a member of Austria national football team, Laimer won 20 caps and he scored two goals.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Antonio Conte wants to sign a new midfielder and Laimer is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.
The former Red Bull Salzburg man will offer the Tottenham boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.
According to the report, “Tottenham have joined the battle for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer. The Austria international is being linked with a summer move to England, where Liverpool and Manchester United are keen. Kicker says Spurs have also come forward, with sporting director Fabio Paratici establishing contact with RBL for Laimer. RBL management are preparing to sell Laimer this summer, with his contract running to 2023. For his part, Laimer has stated he won’t consider his future until the end of the season.”
