Tottenham join PSG in race for Gianluigi Donnarumma

It’s no secret that Tottenham are interested in Milan’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. But who isn’t?

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Tottenham have joined PSG in race for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 21-year-old’s contract at Milan is set to expire at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

He is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in Italy.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has represented Italy at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17 and Under-21 level, winning 24 caps, before making his senior international debut in September 2016. As a member of Italy national football team, Donnarumma won 22 caps.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Tottenham.

José Mourinho wants to sign a new goalkeeper and Donnarumma is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The 21-year-old has been long term target of José Mourinho as the manager look to bolster his goalkeeping options for the next season.

The Serie A goalkeeper is highly talented and he has a big future ahead of himself. Donnarumma has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

According to the report, “Tottenham are ‘serious’ about battling Paris Saint-Germain to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the near future, according to a report. Todofichajes claims that Spurs eye the 21-year-old as the long-term replacement for club stalwart Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman is one of Tottenham’s longest-serving players after joining the club in 2012. However, the 33-year-old’s contract runs out in two years time and it is unclear if he will renew. According to the Spanish outlet, though, the north London club already have their eye on a top-class replacement. Despite still only 21, Donnarumma has played in Milan’s first team for over four seasons. As such, he is one of the most highly-rated goalkeepers in European football. The report claims that Spurs are ‘serious’ over signing the stopper but they will face a battle to do so, both from PSG and Milan themselves.”

Tottenham will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Milan to the negotiating table. The Spurs have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.

The Italian Giants would be wise to keep the Italy international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Gianluigi Donnarumma ideal fit for Tottenham?

Signing the 21-year-old would be a masterstroke from Mourinho.

Donnarumma is still quite young and he will only get better with experience. He would be a good long term investment for Tottenham.

How strong that interest is and whether Tottenham will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
