It is an open secret that Tottenham need to sign a goalkeeper.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Tottenham are eyeing move for West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
The England international was signed by West Brom in July 2018 from Manchester United for a fee of 7.35 million euros. The 28-year-old has a contract until 2022 with the club.
Since his arrival from United, Johnstone has conceded 197 goals and provided 37 clean sheets in 148 games for West Brom, including conceded 14 goals and provided 7 clean sheets in 17 games in all competitions this season.
The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in England. As a member of England national football team, Johnstone won 3 caps.
His performances have seen him become the target of many Premier League clubs including Tottenham.
With questions being raised concerning Hugo Lloris’ future at the club, the Tottenham manager could well look to Sam Johnstone as an ideal replacement.
According to the report, “Tottenham are hotting up their search for a new goalkeeper to replace veteran Hugo Lloris. The London club are aware that 35-year-old Lloris may not even stay beyond the expiry of his contract at the end of the season. According to the Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion’s Sam Johnstone is on their radar. They are also looking at Dean Henderson from Manchester United, who is still second choice to David De Gea. Spurs will take their time on a decision regarding Lloris’ future, and then an eventual search for a long-term replacement.”
